Selling your home?
Want a fast and profitable sale?
Then you have to set your home up for selling success, which means getting it ready and gussying it up.
But you have to do it right.
To help with that, here are 5 things you should do before selling your house:
Buyers need to be able to envision themselves enjoying your home, and things like quirky plate collections and piles of clothes can really distract from that.
So, in addition to deep cleaning, it’s best to remove ALL unnecessary and/or personal items from your house, garage, and yard – minimalism is key. And make you do it before taking listing photos.
- Replace Outdated Hardware
While seemingly small, broken or outdated hardware can be a big turn-off for buyers. So, you’ll want to scan visible fixtures (e.g. door handles, curtain rods, faucets, and towel bars) throughout your home and make the appropriate changes.
New hardware is also a quick and cost effective way to make your home more appealing.
- Stage Smart
In order to increase the likelihood of a sale, your home needs to look chic, comfortable, and inviting to a wide variety of buyers, which is why it’s best to keep the decor neutral and classic.
Hiring a stager to set everything up for you can get pricey. As an alternative, you can hire a stager or organizer to consult for a couple hundred dollars.
4. Create Curb Appeal
Curb appeal is crucial. After all, first impressions are everything. Here are things you can do to attract buyers right away:
- Add colorful potted plants.
- Put out a nice welcome mat.
- Power wash walk ways.
- Make sure all dead plants have been removed.
- Trim any dead flowers or leaves.
- Mow the lawn and prune hedges.
- Remove all clutter and debris from your front yard.
- Replace any visible broken items such as light bulbs or screens with holes in them.
5. Talk to a Cash Buyer
If your home is in tip-top shape, it may make sense to do all the work described in the previous steps so you can get it on the market.
But if it’s not, selling to a cash buyer might be a lot easier. Cash buyers buy houses as-is, so there’s no need for things like cleaning, staging, or repairs.
You can just relax – with cash in your pocket.
